Congratulations. I am also self-published, having thirteen science fiction novels on Amazon. I would love to correspond with you about writing adult horror. While my main focus is science fiction, I do write a little extreme adult horror that is not for the faint of heart.

I don’t have a lot of extra capacity at the moment but I do have set time dedicated via my Podcast “Written in Red: The Horror Reader and Writer’s Podcast,” where authors and readers can submit questions. The show has 30 episodes now all about writing, publishing, marketing, etc. Feel free to email the show anytime and we’ll address the questions on air: https://youtube.com/channel/UCINdpZjYCgAx7ZKESgSYz5A

I guess that my question is when is an extreme horror story just too extreme for publication of any sort? I have written extreme horror short stories set in medieval times where a jealous wife has her husband's lover and mother of his bastard child tortured along with the lover's sister, leading to the young mother being brought to the village square and punished with a red hot breast ripper. I have also written extreme horror stories set in contemporary times within the Islamic State where kidnapped western women are subjected to medical experiments by Muslim doctors who seem to emulate Joseph Mengele and use methods that seem to be more focused on inflicting pain and sexual mutilation than achieving any real medical information in this Muslim hospital of horrors. I can email you copies of these stories if you are interested.

Aron, thanks for opening up like that. I got to learn more about one of my favorite authors. I was a party animal too taking hundreds of hits of acid and following Phish and the Grateful Dead around, so your shroom story I could relate to. Can’t wait to see what’s coming, hope it’s depraved and extreme as usual. Jack Brunner
