GROSS TO THE GRAVE
Gross to the Grave Limited Tee Run, Through the Eyes of Desperation Amazon & Audible Release, Notes from Edward Lee, Triana's The Old Lady, The Vortex Grand Opening, Jason Parent & Christa Carmen!
Hello Fiends,
It’s been a little while since we last spoke, and holy poopers is there a lot of news! Let’s set this shit off right!
GROSS TO THE GRAVE LIMITED TEE SHIRT RUN
When I drop new logos and designs, of course I want them to look cool. But even beyond the aesthetics, I hope to deliver a story or message. Take for example my last campaign ‘Bleeding Through Boundaries.’ That was all about how we push the limits of everything in the Extreme Horror & Splatterpunk subgenres. Violence can often be a vehicle for this in my work, therefore it only made sense to use ‘bleeding through’ for the slogan. When my novel ‘Playground’ grew popular enough to somehow find a mainstream audience, the controversy stirred up as a result was one of the ripple effects of bleeding through—into a place where you and I are not welcome. Into a place where they call us freaks and perceive us as lesser human beings, and to some extremists, even expendable. To them, the world is somehow a better or safer place without us. ‘Gross to the Grave’ is the answer to that regurgitation of ignorance. After all, this is the fuckin’ punk rock of writing, ain’t it?
I’ve literally made a career off making people gag and sometimes vomit. If you look at my reviews, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen mention of these things. People find my writing so putrid, that they need to pause. My mind is just gross. I’m not sure why. But it’s been like that since I was a child. And it’ll be like that until I’m in the grave. That much I can promise you.
Commemorate the hate.
Ski mask sold separately.
THROUGH THE EYES OF DESPERATION GOES LIVE ON AMAZON 3/1
Below is a fun video I made on TikTok that you can view where I announce the release date on Amazon.
March first, just a few days before my birthday, will mark the Amazon eBook and Paperback releases of ‘Through the Eyes of Desperation: The Red Version,’ as well as Daniel J. Volpe’s ‘The Black Version.’ These are two completely different books transpiring over a simultaneous timeline. And again, if you watched the video above, each of these books has two different endings (four completely different endings between the total). Your participation will be required to determine the path chosen.
The audiobook of ‘Through the Eyes of Desperation: The Red Version’ will be narrated by none other than John Wayne Comunale—the voice of Extreme Horror. His performance in TTEOD is truly amazing. I’m excited for you to hear him bring these characters to life. The audiobook of The Red Version should be out by 3/1! Maybe sooner…
As many of you are already aware, JWC is not just an audiobook narrator. He is also the author of countless horror books, a talented musician, artist, and podcaster. To check out the many talents of John Wayne Comunale, click the button below! I highly recommend it!
NOTES FROM EDWARD LEE
Edward Lee is one of the legends of the horror genre. I’m extremely grateful that I was able to work with him on Issue #4 of The Obituaries with Daniel J. Volpe and Kristopher Triana. From my first interaction with Edward Lee, I could tell he was different than most. I wrote him a letter rambling on about how much of an honor it was to be able to work with him, how I wouldn’t have found my way if it wasn’t for him laying the groundwork. The man has been nothing but kind to me, and I will always be grateful for our interactions. He gave me some exciting updates during our last correspondence that I’d like to share!
“Edward Lee has been busy in spite of dialysis; He just finished a Lovecraftian novella with Mary Sangiovanni. More info forthcoming. Another collaborative novella, Amityville Bukakke, (or is it Bukkake?) with R.J. Benetti and Judith Sonnet, nears completion. Lee is currently co-writing a film script with Ryan Harding called Alien Pervert. Why? For the hell of it. An ongoing indie comic book collaboration, with artist William Skaar, is still very much in the works. It’s an amped up, dirtied up contemporary interpretation of Lovecraft’s story The Hound. Lee’s story A Dick in a Jar will be published in a Russian horror anthology in a month or so; the English version will be included in a forthcoming collection with mostly new material. Lastly, Lee is in the middle of editing an all-female horror anth called Erotic Horror for Horny Housewives, and will include new stories by Lucy Taylor, Christine Morgan, Bridgett Nelson, Candace Nola, Jackie Mitchell, C.V. Hunt, Mary Sangiovanni, Karolina Kowskaska (I’m sure I spelled that wrong, sorry!) and Monica O’Rourke.”
What an update! I can only hope to have my hand in that many exciting projects down the road! One other note I would like to add is that Edward Lee’s “The Bighead’s Junk” was officially announced as one of the 2024 Splatterpunk Award nominees! If you feel like getting nasty, I recommend checking it out!
TRIANA’S THE OLD LADY
Many of you are aware that I’m close friends with Kristopher Triana. Simply put, Triana is one of the best horror creators period. I would strongly recommend checking out his latest release ‘The Old Lady’ as it very well might be his best yet.
VORTEX BOOKS AND COMICS OPENING DAY
Many of you are already familiar with Brian Keene & Mary Sangiovanni. They were writing and publishing long before I even sniffed it. But as I began to learn more about the horror community and integrate these last few years, they have been very kind to me. And I’m very excited for you to take a look at their brainchild, Vortex Books & Comics!
The video above shows some of the store and stock currently available. Those in the Columbia, PA area, definitely check it out. Some of my signed books and even some free swag are inside! Not only can you stock up on current releases, vintage books, rare prints, and comics & manga, but there will also be a designated area for readings and other events. I can’t wait to check it out and hope you will too :)
JASON PARENT & CHRISTA CARMEN
I want to give a big shoutout to a couple of amazing authors who are local here. Over the last year or so I’ve been able to forge some awesome friendships, and we have a cozy group of people that all support each other in different ways. Here are two of my favorites :)
JASON PARENT…
is the author of countless horror and thriller books. An incredible author who holds your interest but isn’t afraid to make you laugh too. But no matter what he’s writing, Jason always keeps the tension high. You will see images of his books in the back of both versions of ‘Through the Eyes of Desperation’ because he edited them. If you enjoy my work, I know you’ll enjoy Jason’s too!
CHRISTA CARMEN…
is probably best known for her blockbuster debut novel of gothic horror, ‘The Daughters of Block Island.’ An instant smash hit, this gripping tale hit #1 on Amazon. She’s been nominated previously for the Bram Stoker award, and with such talent, it’s only a matter of time until she wins one. Additionally, she’s also a tremendous editor who I’ve had the pleasure of working with twice now. A great writer and great person! Please check out her work!
